How do you get abortion pills delivered?

Step 1: Our staff will arrange a consultation time for you. The appointment will be conducted via telephone. In the next few days, we will schedule the appointment for a time that is convenient for you. To assess your situation thoroughly, we will pose questions to you throughout your appointment. For this, a comprehensive medical history and the date of your last menstrual period will be necessary. We will also complete a safeguarding assessment. At the end of the session, we will assess if it is suitable for you to take the pills at home. We may offer you an invitation to visit a clinic for an in-person clinical assessment.

prior to taking the abortion pills, you will have a meeting with a nurse or doctor—either face-to-face at the health center or via video/phone—to discuss how to take the pills. You will receive detailed instructions on when and how to take the pills from your doctor or nurse.

Your doctor or nurse will provide you with two different medications to terminate your pregnancy. After obtaining your medication, you can have your abortion at home or in any other comfortable location of your choice.

Initially, you will ingest a tablet named mifepristone (200 mg). For pregnancy to develop as it should, a hormone known as progesterone is necessary. Mifepristone prevents your body’s natural progesterone from working, which halts the development of the pregnancy.

Then you will take the second medication, misoprostol, either immediately or within 48 hours.

Misoprostol can be taken in several different ways. The pills can be placed in your vagina (vaginal), under your tongue (sublingual), or in your mouth between your cheeks and gums (buccal). They will gradually decompose, and your body will take in the medication through the skin in your mouth or vagina. Merely swallowing the pills is not enough: it will likely induce a strong feeling of nausea and lessen their effectiveness. Your doctor or nurse will guide you on the best method for taking the pills. The steps for each method are as follows:

Buccal

After taking mifepristone, wait 24 to 48 hours before taking it.

1. Place 2 pills between your gum and cheek on the side of your mouth. Repeat the same process with 2 additional pills on the opposite side of your mouth (a total of 800 micrograms (µg) of misoprostol).
2. Let them be there for half an hour.
3. If there are still fragments of the pills remaining after 30 minutes, take them with water.

Sublinual

1. After taking mifepristone, wait 24 to 48 hours before taking it. 
2. Place 4 misoprostol pills (totaling 800 micrograms (µg)) under your tongue.
3. Let them be there for half an hour.
4. If there are still fragments of the pills remaining after 30 minutes, take them with water.

Viginal

1. Use it 0 to 48 hours following your mifepristone intake.
2. Clean your hands. Insert 4 pills (totaling 800 micrograms (µg)) deep into your vagina, as far as they will go.
3. Insert one tablet at a time. Lie down for half an hour to prevent them from falling out. Later on, fragments of the pills may come out of your vagina.
4. If more than 30 minutes have passed since you inserted that dose of pills into your vagina, your body should have absorbed sufficient medicine, and there is no need to insert them again.

For some individuals, a second misoprostol dose will be necessary. If your doctor or nurse advises you to take a second dose, you will take 4 additional misoprostol pills (totaling 800 micrograms (µg)) after 4 hours. Cramping and bleeding caused by misoprostol help empty your uterus. If you haven’t experienced any bleeding within 24 hours after taking the second medication, reach out to your nurse or doctor.

You will meet with your doctor, nurse, or health center counselor prior to your abortion to discuss your options and whether or not abortion is the correct choice for you. To determine the stage of your pregnancy, you will undergo an examination, laboratory testing, and possibly an ultrasound. If you need to do anything else to get ready for your abortion,

your doctor or nurse will let you know. You will receive written instructions from them on how to take any medication they prescribe and how to take care of yourself following your abortion. Additionally, you will receive a phone number that you may use around-the-clock if you have any queries or worries.

Following an abortion, some bleeding and cramping are typical. In order to make your recuperation period more comfortable, plan ahead. Allow yourself to unwind for the remainder of the day. Prepare a heating pad for cramps and maxi pads in case you need them. Make sure you have some painkillers, such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin), but avoid taking aspirin as it may increase bleeding.
